Introduction

In April 2018, Hilfr ApS (Hilfr), a Danish online cleaning platform, signed a collective agreement with the Danish trade union, The United Federation of Danish Workers (3F) . The agreement offered significant guarantees for self-employed workers working for Hilfr including their being treated on par with full-time employees and thereby being protected under European Union and national labor laws, leading to good hourly pay and decent working conditions. Hilfr, basically a two-sided market platform, connected people who wanted to render their cleaning services with those who wanted to hire cleaning help. Hilfr believed that it was necessary to come up with fair labor practices in order to improve company image and manage the competition such as Happy Helper, Cleady, Meploy, Chabber, and a number of other smaller platforms..
